Landfills

Landfills represent an important nexus in our ecosystem both for non-hazardous and for hazardous wastes. Management of landfill liquids is an important part of operating a landfill, and one of the biggest sources is leachate – the precipitation that flows through the landfill, picking up moisture and contaminants along the way. Often, these contaminants include PFAS. This is increasingly becoming a concern for regulators from an environmental and safety point of view.

Onvector’s technology is able to work with other processes within a leachate treatment system. In some cases, Iit’s a two-part process. The first technology (e.g., reverse osmosis or foam fractionation) takes the high volume of leachate and isolates the impurities, so that the treated water can be discharged. The second process focuses on the resulting wastewater stream and destroys PFAS using can include Onvector’s Plasma Vortex technology for a more concentrated, lower flow rate stream.
